What is Diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes develops when the body stops responding properly to insulin, so sugar stays high in the blood. Over years, uncontrolled sugar can affect the eyes, kidneys, nerves and heart. Pre-diabetes is the warning stage, when sugar is above normal but not yet diabetic.
Ayurvedic treatment does not replace insulin or prescribed medicines on its own. Our Vaidyas work alongside your existing treatment: herbs that support glucose metabolism, a practical Indian diet plan and activity routines. As your readings improve, your physician may be able to adjust your doses.
The Ayurvedic view — Madhumeha / Prameha
Diabetes falls under Prameha, and advanced diabetes is described as Madhumeha. Excess Kapha and Meda (fat), weak Agni and sedentary habits block channels, and long-standing cases involve Vata and tissue depletion. Treatment differs for an overweight, Kapha-type patient and a lean, Vata-type patient.

Tick the symptoms you have. This quick self-check suggests which stage may apply to you. A Vaidya will confirm it during your free consultation.
This is not a diagnosis. Only a doctor can confirm your stage and the right medicine.

Stages of Diabetes & How Your Medicine Changes
We do not give every Diabetes patient the same medicine. Your formulation, dose and therapies depend on the stage of the disease:
Pre-diabetes
HbA1c 5.7–6.4% or fasting sugar 100–125 mg/dL.
Diet, activity and Kapha-reducing herbs — the stage where progression can often be delayed.
Established Type 2
HbA1c 6.5% or above, on tablets or recently diagnosed.
Glucose-supporting formulations (e.g. Gurmar, Vijaysar, Jamun) with your current medicines, plus a structured meal plan.
Long-standing / Complications
Many years of diabetes, insulin use, neuropathy or kidney involvement.
Organ-protective Rasayana and symptom care (e.g. for nerve pain) under close joint supervision with your physician.
